Chemical structure of Losartan (potassium salt).
Losartan (potassium salt) is supplied as a lyophilized powder. For a 10 mM stock, reconstitute 5 mg of powder in 1.08 ml of DMSO. Working concentrations and length of treatment can vary depending on the desired effect.
Store lyophilized at 4ºC, desiccated. In lyophilized form, the chemical is stable for 24 months. Once in solution, store at -20ºC and use within 2 months to prevent loss of potency. Aliquot to avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles.

Losartan (potassium salt) is a known angiotensin II receptor antagonist by selectively and competitively blocking the binding of the angiotensin II hormone (1). In clinical settings, it is useful as an antihypertensive agent and also displays neuroprotective effects against chronic fatigue stress (2,3). Losartan (potassium salt) inhibits collagen I synthesis and induces sirtuin 1 (SirT1) expression and activity (4,5).
